Kauai, also known as Kauaʻi, is the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands according to geological data. It measures 562.3 square miles, making it the fourth largest of the Hawaiian archipelago.

The island is fondly known as 'Garden Isle' and lies about 105 miles northwest of O'ahu. The island hosts the famous Waimea Canyon State Park, a canyon that is 10 miles long and 3,000 feet deep.

The island is home to 67,091 people and its largest town is known as Kapaʻa. The Island's main economic activity is tourism, receiving about 1.3 million visitors of whom 84% are from the United States and 3% from Japan.
